About
Welcome to my website! Here you can access my writings and other materials. I'm a poet, researcher, and teacher with an interest in plants and human-botanical relations. My research focuses on Aboriginal Australian literature, Southeast Asian ecocriticism, the environmental humanities, ecopoetics, and transdisciplinary plant studies.
My connections to trees extend from North America and Northern Europe to Oceania and Southeast Asia with special affinities for the Christmas Tree (Nuytsia floribunda) of Western Australia, Antarctic beech (Nothofagus moorei) of New South Wales, and the sassafras tree (Sassafras albidum) of the Eastern United States.

I am an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the Nulungu Institute, University of Notre Dame, Australia.

My current research project is Gifts from the Sentient Forest: Communication and Collaboration Between People and Trees in Northern Finland, with funding from the Kone Foundation, Helsinki, Finland.

I am also Editor of the journal Plant Perspectives (founded 2022) and Managing Co-editor of The Trumpeter (founded 1983).
